GP Shared Care

You: Mum-to-be

Me: Pregnancy doctor / professional troubleshooter / your cheerleader

Choosing a pregnancy care provider is a big decision, ranging from midwife to obstetrician care.

GP shared care is nicely placed somewhere the middle, with both medical oversight from a GP trained in pregnancy care (that’s me!) along with the benefits of seeing the hospital midwives.

(In addition to GP shared care, I also provide early pregnancy care for those who ultimately want an obstetrician or midwife to manage their pregnancy.)

The best things about GP shared care for you:

  • Genuinely personalised care in line with ACT and National guidelines

  • The same care provider at all your medical appointments

  • Flexible appointments with less waiting time compared to the hospital, and conveniently located in Civic

  • A mix of medicine and midwifery

The best thing about GP shared care for me:

Being able to build a long-term relationship with a mum-to-be as I help manage her pregnancy and then look after her and her bub postnatally.

When I’m your shared care GP,

most of your pregnancy appointments are here with me at the practice, while the remainder are with public hospital midwives (or obstetric doctors if needed). You will typically have around eight appointments with me and around five midwife appointments.

As much as is possible, I try to be a one-stop shop for community perinatal care .

I can also provide:

I’ll take care of the health and safety of your pregnancy while you concentrate on growing that baby.
